Many people enjoy skiing, but do not ski on a regular basis, but instead only on an annual or semi-annual basis.
The most common skiing injuries are to the knees. These injuries are most often the effect of newer technology that stabilizes the ankle, putting more strain on the knee and by twisting the knee in the wrong direction while skiing.
The second most-common injuries are injuries to the shoulder and the thumb. Both are often caused by an incorrect fall or tumbling fall. Shoulder injuries are generally dislocations or rocator cuff tears. If the pole gets caught between the thumb and forefinger however, a ligament called the ulna collateral ligament can be torn.
Other skiing injuries can include but are not limited to back injuries, concussions, neck injuries, hand injuries, frostbite, strains and sprains.
